Thursday, Feb. 16-Students took a pre-test on the Civil War-Reconstruction Unit. From there, we started on the graphic organizer. We also watched this BrainPop video on the Civil War:
Friday, Feb. 17: Students read and answered questions about the Emancipation Proclamation and the freeing of slaves in the Confederacy. Students also read through the Gettysburg Address! Attached is the Gettysburg Address.

Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 20/21: We continued with our graphic organizers on the Civil War-Reconstruction Unit. Attached are the notes in their entirety. In addition, here's a video clip from 'Travel Thru History' on Ft. Fisher, which is outside Wilmington.
I also found a video from Civil War Trust that highlights all the major battles from the war, including Bentonville.

Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 21/22: We started into Reconstruction, with the 13-15 Amendments and the clash between Pres. Andrew Johnson and Radical Republican-controlled Congress. See the above "answers" in the graphic organizer for information. Attached is a Mr. Betts video that highlights the clash between Johnson and Congress. We also briefly covered North Carolina Gov. William Holden's battle to stop the Ku Klux Klan, and how it cost him his job.
